Employ a secretary

If you’re finding that there aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything that you need done, then it might be time to think about employing a secretary to help take some of the load off your back. While there are still going to be tasks that only you should be handling, there are more than likely other mediocre tasks that could be passed onto someone that you could train up to do the job.

Take a look at some employment agencies and tell them what you expect the ideal candidate to be able to do. If a lot of the work is computer based, then experience with computers and programs should be necessary, along with grammatical accuracy, a good knowledge in numbers, and also a great telephone manner. The employment agency(s) can then get to work on finding you the perfect employee for the job.

While it might seem like a financially bad decision to make, employing someone to help out will in fact free up much more of your time. This will allow you to concentrate on continuing the growth of your business, leading to more profits than ever before.

Use technology to help your organisation

One of the biggest mistakes that many companies are making even still is by not choosing to use technology and software to help with the day to day running of their business. Many of the old fashioned business owners will tell you that the ways they use are the most reliable, but that’s simply because they don’t understand how much a program or piece of technology can help out.

Did you know that you can now get software to monitor your policies and procedures? This will allow you to make all of your procedures widely available to see by staff, customers, and the general public. It will also allow you to easily access these policies and edit them if you see fit to do so. Having policies and procedures in place are there for the benefit of you the business owner, your members of staff, and the safety and well being of your customers too. Consider using some software that can help with your organisation so that you can forget about any paper cluttering up your office and risking being lost.

Another way in which technology can help your business is by taking to the internet. You will have seen over the last few decades the sheer growth of other businesses thanks to the use of the world wide web. If you haven’t already, use it to your advantage! This includes having a website for people to easily access and find out more information about your enterprise, alongside accounts for all forms of social media so that you can get the largest reach possible with your business.

You should also consider using the internet to advertise your business. While other means of advertising most certainly still work well, adverts on the internet have more impact on people’s lives than they think. Spend the money on having adverts on social media, and also link placements so that people can access your website by other means too.

Send staff on training courses

While your members of staff may perform adequately, it’s important for your business for them to be performing at their best. However, to do so your staff will need the right training to make sure that they can offer your customers only the best service, knowledge, and also skills that are around. It’s definitely worth your while spending some money on training courses for you and your staff so that you can learn new skills to use within your business. New skills will lead to more customers and further opportunities to expand your business further.

It’s also especially important to keep track of expiring courses that your staff may have already taken. Food hygiene and first aid are both great examples of courses that expire and will need to be retaken. If you’re found to have not renewed these courses for your members of staff you could be putting the general public and your staff in danger, and would inadvertently give yourself a bad reputation. So spend a little extra and make sure everything is up to date!

Collaborate with charities

One of the best things that you could do for your business is by collaborating with a charity. This works well for any business because it immediately shows that your company is more than just some corporate business looking for nothing but your money. It shows caring and generosity, which bodes well when new and potential customers are checking out your business.

Not only that, collaborating with charities means that you can host fun days to raise even more money for your charity, but you can get your business involved in the process and use the opportunity to promote your services or products to the general public.

Take these four pieces of advice and apply them to your business to make sure that your business stays in order. Remember that organisation is key, and showing compassion as a business will rub off well for you!
