Needless to say, for everyone, tech has become an integral part of their life. You wake up, you get on your phone, and chances are, right before bed, you get on your phone too. You work on your computer, you order food via your phone, you shop for new outfits through your devices, and so on. In fact, more than two-thirds of the world's population uses phones for things more than just making and taking calls and texts. But with that said, one thing to keep in mind is the fact that when it comes to devices, they can die quickly, right?

They get used too much to the point that they start getting all glitchy and laggy and just don’t run as well as they should. Sure, this- to a degree can be fine when it comes to digital wellbeing because you’re using your device as much, but in the end, it’s fairly inconvenient. So, when it comes to all of this, it’s important to focus on keeping your devices and general tech looking and operating like new. It boosts longevity, and it just saves you so much money down the road.

Start By Regularly Cleaning Your Devices

Dust, dirt, and fingerprints can accumulate on screens, keyboards, and device exteriors over time. So, you’re obviously going to want to prevent this buildup and keep your tech looking pristine, so why not invest in microfiber cloths and screen cleaning solutions? Sometimes, cleaning solution or water can get into crevices while cleaning, like your charger port or speaker, but a little brush or even a speaker cleaner can immediately help with that. Not all devices can be cleaned the same obviously, so just keep that in mind.

Use a Case When Possible

Laptop cases, phone cases, camera cases, drone cases, you name it.  You need to keep in mind for some devices, protective cases and screen protectors are your first line of defense against physical damage. Sure, they’re often seen more aesthetic purposes, but these accessories can help shield your devices from scratches, drops, and spills, preserving their appearance and functionality.

Make Sure You Always Keep Your Devices Updated

While there are plenty of theories out there that believe that updating your devices is exactly what causes a shorter lifespan, honestly, it’s far from the case. These updates protect from bugs, viruses, and any issue that could directly harm your personal information and your device in general. Keeping your operating system, apps, and drivers up to date ensures that your devices remain secure and perform optimally. Seriously, this is so important, and it’s something that needs to be done.

The Storage Itself Matters

One thing that people get wrong is the storage. There’s the cloud backup that most devices have nowadays, but it doesn’t instantly solve this issue that devices have, so you may need hard drive recovery to retrieve important files incase it crashes. Over time, files, apps, and media can clutter your device's storage, potentially slowing it down. So, one thing you have to do is regularly review and delete unnecessary files, apps, and photos to free up space and maintain peak performance.
