If you ever found that you follow a diet religiously, but then slip up and find it hard to get back on track? Maybe you find that when you commit to working out more, you hit the gym, but then find that you can’t leave the sofa for a couple of days. Either way, it’s easy to get dragged down with things, and it’s also easy to get excited by the possibilities as well. With that said, it’s so important that you find a way to get back on top of things, so you can make sure that you’re not missing out on any positive progress you could be making.

Schedule Habits

The first thing you need to do is try to schedule some positive health habits. You need to put things in your calendar if you can, as this is a good way for you to hold yourself accountable. If you want to get back on track with writing then put it into your calendar that at 9am on Monday morning, you are going to start trying to get on top a little bit. If you want to bounce back to your exercise habits then give yourself a bit of time and again set a date that you are going to make a change. If you can focus on this then you will soon find that it’s easier for you to come out on top. You can apply this to other things in your life as well. If you have quit smoking but then you find that you slip up, and are finding it hard to stop again then a good thing to do would be for you to try and break that habit into smaller pieces. It may be that you look into vaping, for example. You can find different types of vapes online, and when you look into them for yourself, you will find it easier to stop putting as much pressure on yourself, while setting yourself up for success in the long-run.

Look at your Behaviour

Another thing you need to do is try to look at your current behaviour. Not all of your habits will tie into a specific timeframe and sometimes you may need a bit of a trigger to remind you to act on them. If you want to floss, then every day after you have brushed your teeth, try and make sure that you floss. If you want to be happier, then when you stop at a red light when you are out driving, remind yourself of something that makes you happy. If you can make sure that you have a lot of triggers in your life, then this will help you to really hone-in on things and it will also help you to get back to making a real difference to yourself. Saying that you are going to make a change “soon” is all very well, but at the same time, you do have to be sure that you’re not just setting vague goals that you can’t achieve. The bottom line is to make sure that you make the change you want to make, real, and that you also get back on track whenever you slip up.

Stick with a Schedule

Another good thing to do would be for you to set a schedule and stick with it. It’s not the individual impact of you missing your schedule that happens to be a big deal. If you miss one workout then you may not find this to be a big deal. With that said, if you keep up with this bad habit then the result of it will compound and this is the last thing you need. If you want to make a change then make sure that you take the time to focus on the things that make you feel good, and stick with the schedule that facilitates it. If you want to work out, do it every Monday, and if you don't have time to do a workout on that day, don’t just not do it. Instead, focus on the things that you can try to make a change with. Do some squats at home, or even try to go on a quick run. Setting small microhabits will help a lot here, and you would be surprised at how much it could make a difference to you and your family.

So as you can see, it’s very easy for you to make a positive change, and if you follow this guide, you’ll find it easier to get back on top.
