If you are really keen to show your employees that you care about them, then there are many things that you might want to focus on to make sure of that. One of the major considerations here, however, is that you need to try and create some kind of a break area which they are going to enjoy as much as possible. If you can do that, then you will find that it leads to some amazing improvements in the way that they work, the kind of atmosphere in the office that you can expect, and the way in which everyone gets on with each other too. In this post, we are going to look at what you might want to think about doing in order to create a truly amazing break area at work, so that you can make sure that you are going to see these benefits and more in good time.
Separate From The Workspace
One of the main components of a good break area is that it needs to be as separate from the workspace as possible. That is a matter of office geography, ensuring that the break area is away from desks and so on, but it’s also a matter of ensuring that it is clearly somewhere to go and relax. There should ideally be basically nothing that reminds your staff of anything to do with work - so no posters about the company or what have you. You need to make it a space that could be anywhere, but which happens to have the advantage of being in the same building as the workspace. That will ensure that people can really relax there.
Plenty Of Entertainment
It’s also not a bad idea to have some kind of entertainment in the break area, so that people can actually use the space to unwind and enjoy themselves as they see fit. There are plenty of ways in which you might make this a reality, but one of the best is that you might want to think about having a pool table, a dart board, or a multi game arcade machine in place so that people can enjoy a game or two while they are on break. You will find that this does wonders for morale, so it is absolutely worth it for that reason alone. It will also mean that they are more likely to actually, genuinely unwind, which is obviously hugely important too.
Food & Drink
You don’t have to actually provide the food and drink itself, but you should make sure that you have at least provided enough of a decent area in which people can prepare their own food and drink. That means at least a kettle and a microwave, and to be honest it’s no bad thing if you do provide the tea and coffee itself. You should also provide a fridge so people can bring in lunch from home. Do all this, and you will find that your break area is much more successful indeed.
