5 Ways Pajamas Can Help Improve Your Overall Health

Why You Should Be Wearing Your Pajamas Every Night

Will wearing a washable silk pajamas set actually improve my health? The answer is yes!

Why did people start wearing pajamas? Well, contrary to popular belief, it wasn't all about preserving one's modesty while one slept. There was much more to it than that.

As well as looking very stylish, pajamas actually improve our health. There is nothing better than a health hack that is so easy you can do it while you sleep…

Today, we are going to share with you five reasons why wearing pajamas to bed can improve your health.

#1 - They Help To Prevent The Common Cold

During the winter months, we want to make sure that our immune systems are as strong as possible. One of the easiest ways to do this is to make sure that we stay at a warm but stable temperature when we sleep.

If we move around a lot in our sleep then we can end up kicking our covers away or having them stolen by a partner or pet. If this happens, then your body temperature drops drastically before you warm up again.

This instability can have a negative effect on your immune system - making you more vulnerable to illnesses like flu and the common cold.

If you have a set of pajamas, you can keep your body temperature stable and keep your immune system strong.

#2- They Are More Hygienic

You are more likely to wash your pajamas than you are to wash your bedsheets.

When you sleep you sweat and you shed dead skin cells. If you are not wearing pajamas then your sweat and skin get caught up in your bedsheets. Along with the sweat and the skin cells of anyone you share your bed with.

If you sleep naked then you should be washing your bed sheets multiple times a week.

If you sleep in your pajamas then the sweat and the skin cells will be captured by your pajamas. These are much easier to clean and when changed regularly they are much more hygienic.

#3 - They Will Make You Sleep More Deeply

In his book, Why We Sleep, Dr. Matthew Walker laid out the things we can do to improve our sleep by working with our body's natural sleep cycles.

One of the things we can do to improve our sleep is to wear pajamas and socks to bed

Before we fall into REM sleep, our body temperature needs to drop. If you sleep naked, your body will try to keep you warm, so you will find it harder to get a restful night of sleep.

However, if you wear socks and pajamas to bed, your body temperature is stable. Therefore, your body is able to lower its temperature faster and sleep comes quicker and is of a higher quality.

#4  - They Help You To Relax

For many of us, we find it easier to relax when we feel comfortable and cozy - a good set of pajamas can get you into this state instantly.

We find it easier to relax when the clothes that we are wearing feel good on our skin. However, what feels good is different for each one of us. Thankfully, there are enough types of pajamas on the market that everyone will find something they love.

If you feel relaxed when you are warm then you can invest in a thick set of pajamas, maybe a set that is lined with fleecing. Or if you feel most relaxed when you are cool, you can get yourself a set of bamboo pajamas canada, or ones that are silk instead.

#5 -They Will Make You Feel Less Vulnerable At Night

When you try to sleep naked, you might find yourself feeling very nervous while you are trying to fall asleep.

This can happen because your fight or flight response is quicking in. When you are lying down naked, your body thinks that you are vulnerable and not prepared to run away from any predators who are lurking in the dark.

While most of us do not have to worry about tigers hiding in our bedrooms, we might want to consider wearing pajamas to bed so our brains feel like we're less vulnerable.

This is such a simple trick that can reduce a lot of anxiety in our evenings. And you might just find when your brain isn't worrying about predators, that you fall asleep more quickly.
