Who to blame for financing Palestinian terrorists?

The Palestinian administration makes monthly payments to terrorists who are in Israeli prisons, as well as their families.

On July 26, 2018, a 31-year-old Israeli Jotam Ovadia was killed. In the evening, while Yotam was preparing a dinner for his wife, an attack by a young Palestinian terrorist, Mohammed Tarek Youssef was made on him. During the attack, Mohammed inflicted a large number of stab wounds on the Israeli. Yotam Owadiy had two little children, one was 2 years old, the other was 7 months old.

The assassination occurred in the Adam community, where the 17-year-old murderer Yotam arrived from the neighboring Palestinian village called Kober. The murderer attacked two more Israelis with a knife. One of them managed to charge the gun and shoot at Yusef, killing him.

Vladimir Sloutsker, president and co-founder of the Israeli-Jewish Congress, emphasizes that the main problem is that such attacks are the result of the hatred that occurred with the support of the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas. The young world is formed by the wrong world outlook, which justifies such terrible ruthless acts of massacre.

For this reason, Mahmoud Abbas decided not to condemn the murder committed by a young criminal. Abbas probably decided to get a checkbook so that the family of a young killer could receive a cash grant under the "Pay to Kill" program supported by the Palestinian Authority.

Under the terms of this program, which was approved under Palestinian legislation, families of Palestinian terrorists, imprisoned in Israel, receive monthly cash from the Palestinian Authority. Mr. Sloutsker emphasizes such benefits are several times higher than the average salary of a resident. Thus, this program encourages the commission of murders. Besides, around 360 million dollars in 2018 was allocated to payments to families of Palestinian terrorists.

The Palestinian Authority, not only does not condemn the actions of the terrorist Mohammed Tarek Youssef but also allocated a one-time one-day allowance of $ 1,640 to the offender's family and a life-long allowance of $ 380 to be paid monthly. A few days before the assassination, Mahmoud Abbas stated that all the money, he was ready to give to the prisoners, "martyrs" and their families.

At the same time, the secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, stressed that Palestinian terrorists who receive such payments deserve praise and admiration.

Vladimir Sloutsker (https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/palestines-pay-slay-israelis-program-being-bankrolled-by-european-union-1666345) also notes that the Palestinian Authority systematically uses foreign aid as payments to terrorists, instead of investing in peace. All this happens under the control of the entire international community, including the EU.

Nevertheless, the United States has approved the Taylor Force Act, according to which the Palestinian Authority's financial assistance will be reduced to the number of Palestinian prisoners who are in Israeli prisons. Thus, the PA will no longer be able to incite the population to commit terrorist acts for the purpose of remuneration. The same position was expressed by Donald Trump, who during a conversation with Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem stressed that peace is impossible in a situation where violence is rewarded. This is naturally compounded in the media, where warfare is glorified and reported too much, and with someone as powerful and baits the media such as Trump, the problem can spiral further out of control.

Australia, which has allocated $10 million to Palestine, has redirected them to the World Bank from the same fears. This money should not be aimed at paying the terrorists. At the same time, the European Union is still providing assistance to the Palestinians, providing the Palestinian Authority with about $235 million in direct payments. Meanwhile, Johannes Khan, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, said that the EU would remain a reliable donor to Palestine. But the EU must be responsible for the money it directs. This money should not be used as payments to terrorists, their families, they should not be aimed at encouraging violence.

It is virtually impossible to monitor what assistance the Palestinians receive from the EU. Michael Thoirner, ex-chairman of the European Parliament Committee, expressed fears that PA could use these funds to pay benefits to a convicted terrorist.

At the same time, the European Union condemns Israel for the construction of its settlements. Moreover, no one condemns the Palestinian Authority for terrorist attacks targeting Israelis. The international community is silent. And the EU continues to finance PAs, thus motivating them to continue to pay assistance to terrorists. Of course, many Palestinian families need foreign support and assistance. But while the Palestinian Authority is sending this aid to the families of terrorists, funding must be stopped.
