It may not be your first thought when thinking of expanding your company; however, expansion creates jobs. There are a great number of people who are struggling to find work through no fault of their own. By running your business well and creating growth, you could help make sure that someone has the means to feed and clothe their family. Depending on the nature of your business, you could choose to work with charities who support homeless people, by providing work opportunities that can help them to regain control of their lives. By setting an example for other businesses, you could pave the way to a new way of thinking, creating immense opportunities for those that struggle the most. It can also be argued that by investing your time in new employees like this, you are likely to be rewarded with many years of loyal and committed service to your company.
Provide Mental Health Support
Providing support and information for your employees can actually have a wider influence than you may realize. Providing information on the signs of ill mental health, such as depression and anxiety, will not only help your employees to recognize the signs in themselves and each other but in their family and friends. Encouraging your employees to talk to each other, or a professional, about the way they are feeling, will further contribute to the efforts that are being made to break the stigma around ill mental health, helping people to get the support that they need. Therefore, someone who is well informed about the resources and services available to people in need can recommend them further afield, creating a positive domino effect that was started by your company.
